Criminal Court Fees
Police Station Representation
Cost of representation at the police station is covered by the Legal Aid Agency.
Legal Aid
If you are in receipt of benefits or on a low income then part or all of your legal fees may be covered by Legal Aid.
We will make an application on your behalf at the outset of your instruction so that you are clear on your eligibility.
Private Magistrates’ Court Fees
It is difficult to quantify the cost of your case until we obtain the prosecution papers and determine how long the case will take. In particular, we need to know whether you will plead guilty or not guilty, how many hearings are likely, and if it is a trial how many court sessions the trial will last for.
Our fees include taking instructions from you, considering evidence, providing advice and attending court and a reasonable response to calls and emails. Any reports required will be charged in addition to the below fees.
Typically, our fees are as follows
For a Guilty Plea:
For a plea in mitigation with one attendance – fixed fee of £500 plus VAT.
For a guilty plea – two attendances – fixed fee of £750 plus VAT.
For a Not Guilty Plea:
Listed for a half day trial, fixed fee of £1,250 plus VAT;
Listed for a full day’s trial, fixed fee of £1,750 plus VAT ;
For a not guilty plea, listed for more than a day’s trial, our fees will be substantially more, and we will need to evaluate what work exactly needs doing.
In addition to the above fees, mileage to and from the court will need to be added to the total at the rate of 45p plus VAT (20%) per mile. If your case involves further applications to be made on your behalf such as a submission of exceptional hardship or special reasons there will be further costs which you will incur. These will be advised at the appropriate time.
These are the fixed fees for courts within the Merseyside area, fixed fees for all other areas will be quoted on request.
Crown Court Fees
There are a number of additional factors to magistrates matters. Prices for all crown court matter will be determined on a case-by-case basis upon request.

Road Traffic Offences
Our fees include taking instructions from you, considering evidence, providing advice and attending court and a reasonable response to calls and emails. Any reports required will be charged in addition to the below fees.

Drink/Drug Drive
For a plea in mitigation with one attendance – fixed fee of £600 plus VAT.
For a guilty plea – two attendances – fixed fee of £850 plus VAT.
Trial, fixed fee of £1,350 plus VAT;
Special Reasons
Fixed fee of £1,350 plus VAT;
Exceptional Hardship
Fixed fee of £1,350 plus VAT;
In addition to the above fees, mileage to and from the court will need to be added to the total at the rate of 45p plus VAT (20%) per mile. The cost of any expert report will also be passes on to you. These will be advised at the appropriate time.

Military Matter Fees

Cost of representation at a police station in the UK is covered by the Legal Aid Agency.
Court Martial
Court Martial cases are determined by a number of additional factors and a decision is made on application to Armed Forces Criminal Legal Aid Agency. Any contributions are determined by them and comes directly from your wages.
For private paying Court Martial fees, these are difficult to quantify the cost of your case and will be determined on a case by case basis upon request.

Documentation
Swearing – Affirming documents
We charge £7 per document plus £2.50 for each exhibit (if your documents includes this).
We are more than happy to assist you with the arrangements for swearing a document and if you are in any way unsure about the procedure, please let us know.
Certified Copies of Documents
You may need to send a copy of a document that requires a copy of the original to be verified.
The charge to have a document certified is generally £10.50 per document.
Conveyancing Documents
The charge for a TR1 is £20.00 per document.
The Charge for a ID1 is £50.00 per document
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Documentation Fees are payable in cash only
- Please note that we are unable to swear/affirm/verify document other than in the English language, unless a certified translation of the same document into English is available.
- If you do not speak English, an official interpreter must be present during swearing/affirming to ensure that you understand the procedure, as you will have to repeat the wording of the swear/affirmation in English and the solicitor will need reassurance that you understand what you are signing.
- Regrettably, we do not have holy books to accommodate all the different faiths. We therefore, normally only “affirm”. However, should you wish to swear on your religion’s holy book, you are welcome to bring that along with you but you should inform us beforehand.
- Please note that we are not a Notary Public, which may be required in some instances.
- You will require valid identity photo ID and you must bring along original document.
Appointments
You do not normally need to book an appointment to swear/affirm/verify a document, however, a solicitor may not always be on the premises so it would be better you check availability before hand.
